As is known, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, has issued instructions and directives regarding medical devices that must prioritize local products over imported products. Therefore, regarding this matter, Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI), Commission IX of the DPR-RI and the Head of the West Jakarta City Health Office made a working visit to PT. Taishan Alkes Indonesia which is a domestic manufacturer of rapid test kits and antigen swabs located in Jakarta on Friday (12/03/2021).
"This visit is a form of support from IDI and also all related institutions to local producers who produce medical devices, especially in dealing with the Covid 19 virus that is happening right now. I support Taishan to take on the role of solving the Covid 19 problem in Indonesia. Hopefully, Taishan's production will be a milestone in the re-establishment of medical device production in Indonesia," said Dr. Daeng M. Fakih, Chairman of IDI.
This visit was welcomed by the President Director of Taishan Alkes Indonesia, Eiko Sihombing. Eiko said that this visit made him more confident that the handling of the COVID-19 virus could be carried out optimally because medical devices to handle it could be produced by themselves, without having to bring in from other countries.
"For us, the visit of IDI, the Covid 19 Task Force, Commission IX of the DPR-RI and also the Head of the West Jakarta City Health Service to our place is an important moment for us as a manufacturer of medical devices. The reason is, this is a support that can make us more optimistic to be able to produce even better medical devices and benefit many people," said Eiko.
Eiko added, in producing medical devices, Taishan Alkes Indonesia must have complied with the standardization of medical devices in force in Indonesia. In addition, for its production, Taishan Alkes Indonesia also cooperates with local manufacturers to fulfill raw materials such as casing factories, plastic media, cotton swabs, carton printing factories, aluminum foil and other supporting materials for the purposes of making rapid tests and antigen swabs. Therefore, he believes that the medical devices produced by Taishan Alkes Indonesia are safe to use.
"In the future, we also plan to export medical devices that we produce to make Indonesia proud. But of course, we will do it if the domestic medical device needs have been properly met," concluded the President Director of Taishan Alkes Indonesia, Eiko Sihombing.
